What is Brightspace and D2L?

D2L is a software company that offers a learning management system (LMS) known as Brightspace.

Will I still have access to AU’s On-campus Moodle app after Brightspace access is provided?

Moodle will be available for a period of time as a reference but new course shells will not be created after summer 2024 courses.

Will course shells and student enrollment be created in Brightspace as it is in AU’s On-campus Moodle?

Yes, courses will get created automatically and students will automatically populate in courses in Brightspace.

Can I access Brightspace on my phone?

Yes, Brightspace is a responsive application that is accessible from your phone. Brightspace offers an app known as "Pulse" which is available in your smartphone's app store.

How will I access AU’s Brightspace instance when the site is ready?

Brightspace will be accessible from https://brightspace.aurora.edu and it will be available as an app from your Okta dashboard.

Will all of the plugins and add-ons that I use in Moodle be moved to Brightspace?

There will be updates regarding the migration process of specific tools used in Moodle and there will be changes that require new tools to be used in Brightspace.

How can I access Brightspace?

Brightspace can be accessed by going to https://brightspace.aurora.edu and logging in with your Okta account. To log in, you must be actively enrolled in a course.

When can Brightspace be accessed?

Brightspace is cloud-hosted and available 24x7 for students and faculty. Please contact itshelp@aurora.edu if you experience issues connecting to AU’s Brightspace instance.

What does Brightspace look like for students?

A demo site is in the process of being created for all students to log in and preview what courses will look like in Brightspace.

Are training guides available for faculty?

Brightspace faculty training guides are available on the ITS Knowledge Base website and from the Brightspace Community website.
