Kick-off Meeting & Organizational Structure

Following two introductory calls, D2L and ITS joined a formal kick-off meeting during the week of February 19. Weekly working sessions between D2L and ITS started, continuing over the next several weeks. In the most recent working session, the organizational structure of AU’s D2L instance was discussed, and migrating user data and course data from Colleague to Brightspace. ITS has a process that automatically creates courses and enrolls students into Moodle currently, and soon, there will be a process to add the same type of information into Brightspace.

Course Access for Faculty

ITS consulted with D2L to adjust the initial project plan, expediting access for early adopter faculty members to get Brightspace “sandbox” access. It is important to allow sufficient time for sandbox creation so early adopters get to experience the full version of Brightspace. Sandbox access is targeted for late March. D2L also adjusted the initial project plan to prioritize fall 2024 course access for faculty between late May to early June. Upcoming Details

Over the next three weeks, single sign-on and branding will be discussed during working sessions. ITS administrators are continuing the guided Brightspace administrator training, and two staff members have completed the training so far. Updates on faculty training will be provided in the next communication.
