The Brightspace production instance was created and it is in the process of being integrated with university systems. Organizational structure planning continues.
AU’s Brightspace production instance was recently created by D2L; ITS staff who administer Brightspace are performing initial updates to the system based on information received in working sessions with D2L. ITS staff have also been working on integrating the cloud-hosted Brightspace system and AU’s system and email infrastructure. Working sessions this week remain focused on establishing the organizational structure of on-campus and online classes. After the structure of the university's Brightspace instance is determined, user types and roles will be created. In preparation, data import process testing recently began.
D2L’s training coordinator recently provided training options for the university to consider. ITS staff members who will operate as administrators of Brightspace will enroll in training in early April. Training information for faculty will be available soon.
Additional meetings focused on creating the university's Brightspace organizational structure will continue next week and preparation for course migration from Moodle to Brightspace will begin. As potential changes are determined to be necessary due to the transition, more information will be provided. Over the next couple weeks, Discovery Sessions with D2L cover topics including single sign-on setup, branding, and the Brightspace application landing page. The upcoming sessions provide information necessary to create a sandbox and sandbox access for some faculty.
The FAQ is updated to reflect some of the questions that were received last week: Frequently Asked Questions. If you have any questions regarding the transition from Moodle to Brightspace, please email brightspace@aurora.edu.
