LMS Migration Status

How did we get here and what’s ahead?

The university is currently undertaking a course migration from Moodle to Brightspace, and it is actively progressing. Faculty members with usernames beginning with the letters A and B, along with members of the Instructional Technology Committee, have already had their course content successfully migrated and made available within Brightspace. The migration process involves a series of steps, and currently, the process is focused on migrating courses for faculty whose usernames start with the letter C. This systematic approach will continue alphabetically until all faculty course content is migrated.

It was previously communicated that ITS would make fall 2024 courses available within Brightspace in June to provide faculty members additional time to prepare courses for the fall term. ITS has been dedicating focused efforts and prioritizing necessary tasks to make this possible, and as a result, fall 2024 courses are on target to become available next week.

Training

ITS recently created a brief introductory video to Brightspace for students. The video resource provides an overview of Brightspace’s features and functionality, familiarizing students with the LMS. The introductory video can be accessed here: Brightspace for Students Video. It is also available on Moodle.

Two more Brightspace training sessions are scheduled for May. The Zoom links for these sessions, as well as access to previously recorded training videos, can be found on the Brightspace website: https://brightspaceinfo.aurora.edu/training. This centralized resource is available for reference to the university community throughout the migration process.
