LMS Migration Status

The migration from the on-campus Moodle LMS to Brightspace is progressing. Faculty members with Moodle on-campus courses who have usernames starting with the letters A through L were successfully migrated. Currently, the migration process is focused on usernames beginning with the letter M. The batch migration will continue this week and potentially into next week.

Faculty members whose usernames start with A through L and are experiencing issues accessing their migrated on-campus courses may contact ITS at itshelp@aurora.edu for assistance. ITS is testing the process that transfers data from Colleague to create fall courses in Brightspace. Due to some data inconsistencies that could impact the population of new courses, the live deployment is on hold for an additional week. Further testing will be conducted, and fall 2024 courses will potentially be populated next week.

Integrations

ITS has made progress installing LTI integrations for Brightspace. The following LTI integrations have been successfully enabled for both on-campus and online courses: Cengage, H5P, Perusall, Tutor.com, and Zoom. Additionally, the Aurora LibApps integration has been installed specifically for on-campus courses. ITS is working on implementing other LTI integrations, and updates will be provided as they become active.

Previously, for Moodle on-campus courses, the Safe Exam Browser tool was utilized for exams and quizzes. ITS recently signed up to demo the Respondus Lockdown Browser application, which offers integration capabilities with Brightspace. ITS will provide updates on the progress of the Respondus Lockdown Browser demo as it becomes available.

Training

A training session about quizzes within Brightspace was today, and a video recording will be available on the Brightspace website to accommodate those unable to attend the live session: brightspaceinfo.aurora.edu/training. The next training topic will focus on Intelligent Agents in Brightspace and the session is scheduled for Friday, May 31, at 12:00 PM CST.
