ITS has completed the course migration for full-time faculty and the course migration for adjunct faculty is in progress. The first training series is complete and additional training is being scheduled.
Last week, the first batch of fall 2024 courses were created in Brightspace. A significant number of courses were generated during this first phase, but some courses were not created due to data-related issues, as previously communicated. ITS has been actively working to resolve the issues. An additional manual course creation process will be performed next week.
ITS is pleased to report that all on-campus Moodle courses for full-time faculty were successfully migrated to Brightspace. The migration of Brightspace courses for adjunct faculty accounts starting with the letters A through D is also complete, and the process to migrate the remaining adjunct faculty courses is underway.
The initial series of Brightspace training sessions concluded on June 6, and the recordings are available at Brightspace Training & Resources. ITS is working with D2L to schedule more training sessions. Additional Brightspace training guides have been added to the ITS Knowledge Base, and include topics such as importing quizzes and adding extra credit to a course. D2L also offers training guides through its Brightspace Community. To access these resources, sign up for an account or log in at Brightspace Community.
To experiment with features and test new ideas using the Brightspace LMS, faculty may utilize their Brightspace sandboxes. All faculty have access to a Brightspace sandbox to explore Brightspace further. If you do not see your sandbox, please contact itshelp@aurora.edu, and ITS will create a sandbox for you.
To ensure students experience a smooth transition from Moodle to Brightspace, a Brightspace demo course was created for students. The course, featuring a sample assignment and discussion board, provides students with experience in the new LMS environment. Students have been notified and encouraged to log in and familiarize themselves with Brightspace.
